I know a lot of people who maybe want to read The Courage to Heal, but it is such a big book and can be really overwhelming to look at. So I have decided to have excerpts from it here - not as a replacement for the book, but so people can see what it's about before taking the step of getting the book.

It is a book about healing from childhood sexual assault. It was written in 1988, and is geared toward women, not because the authors were trying to deny the existance of other genders abuse and everyone's need to heal , but because they had mostly worked with women, and that was what they knew best. The book has a lot of gender stuff in it, but I think it can be really useful for all kinds of people.
I know for me, I wasn't sure if I counted as "child" since my abuse happened when I was 13 or 14, but it was still completely relevant.

I also hope these pages can help partners and friends of survivors learn more about the effects of abuse and the healing process
